Objectives

To enable the collaborative implementation of federation capabilities:

  • UK PKI Bridge
  • UK Identity Proofing & Verification Service based on an agreed UK IPV Framework
  • UK Register of Legal Organisations (ROLO)
  • UK Secure Printer Service enabled by the collaborative Pancras team
  • Accreditation & Audit Service
  • Secure email.  This leverages PKI federation and supports IL3 secure email
  • Step down broker LoA 3 to 2, to allow high assurance employee credentials to be used for citizen access to Government services

 To establish the BBFA Steering Group comprising the major companies in each sector.  The initial six sectors are:

  • Aerospace & Defence & Police
  • Pharmaceutical and Health
  • Financial services
  • Telecommunications and IT
  • Legal services – notaries and solicitors, justice and commercial
  • Energy

To provide a single voice to Government regarding federated trust for UK regulated industry and to enable federated trust mechanisms between UK industries and UK government and other governments & international organisations

  • To develop a Governance Framework for the Development, Implementation and Operation of federated trust.  
  • To develop a set of Common Policies, the Commercial and Operating Models to support collaborative trust
  • To develop a Roadmap for Implementation of Federation Capabilities, with milestones based on agreed functionality and enabled by technology and standards.
  • To establish a BBFA Seal of Approval mechanism for service and product providers
  • To  leverage emerging initiatives to enable federated trust across UK industry nationally and internationally
